At Whitefield Youth Association, we believe every young person deserves a chance – a chance to discover their passion, their purpose, and their path.
For over two decades, we have worked in the heart of our community to make that belief a reality. We do not build multimillion-pound youth centres – we build trust, relationships, and programmes that make a difference.
Our work is rooted in daily, consistent presence. We operate across multiple sites in some of the most underserved areas, offering a safe, inspiring, and welcoming environment. From boxing and wrestling to personal development, mentoring, and leadership opportunities – our spaces are alive with energy and filled with skilled, passionate professionals who believe in the power of young people.
We know it works – because we have been living it, every day, for over two decades. Every young person we support becomes part of a bigger story. Every breakthrough becomes the blueprint for the next. And we are only just beginning.

Whitefield Youth Association, we know that supporting young people requires more than just good intentions – it demands shared values, deep commitment, and purposeful collaboration. For over 23 years, we have worked with children, young people, and families across our community, not just delivering programmes, but building real relationships that last, to create meaningful opportunities. But we do not collaborate with everyone – we choose to work only with those who share our mindset. Our partners believe, as we do, that every young person deserves the chance to thrive, no matter their background, postcode, or personal circumstances. Whether it is local schools, families, grassroots groups, businesses, or supporters – our success is built on working alongside those who care deeply about lasting change. We have seen firsthand that real change happens when people come together – united by one goal: to give every young person the chance to thrive. From delivering weekly youth programmes to creating safe spaces and building trust, every milestone is shared, every success is collective. WHAT MAKES WHITEFIELD YOUTH ASSOCIATION UNIQUE?
A Space Where People From Within The Community Lead, Grow, And Belong Whitefield Youth Association is a safe, inspiring space where young people can explore their potential, build confidence, and connect with their community. What sets us apart is our grassroots, youth-led approach – WYA is shaped by young people, for young people. We offer a wide range of activities, mentoring, and leadership opportunities that encourage creativity, resilience, and real-world impact. Every voice is heard, every individual matters, and together we create a space where young people feel empowered to lead, grow, and thrive. Not A 9 – 5 Organisation – We are here when young people need us most. Whether it is evenings, weekends, or school holidays, our team is on the ground, offering support and activities during the hours that really matter. Eight Activities Every Week – Engaging directly with up to 300 children, young people, and adults on a weekly basis without the safety net of grant funding. This is not just a programme, it is a purpose, and our passion for delivering real change is evident in every session we deliver and every young person we reach. Accessible Programme Delivery – We deliver a wide range of dynamic activities using local venues and adaptable spaces across the community. From boxing to football and freestyle wrestling, we make the most of every environment to provide meaningful experiences for young people. Our flexible, outreach-based approach allows us to bring high-quality youth work directly to where it’s needed most – creating safe, engaging spaces wherever we go. Our Team: Passionate People, Real Impact – At Whitefield Youth Association, our strength lies in our people. We are driven by a team of passionate, skilled individuals who go above and beyond – not because it is a job, but because they care deeply about the lives and futures of the young people they support. Open To Young People From Disadvantaged Areas – Whitefield Youth Association primarily serves those from disadvantaged communities, creating inclusive spaces where everyone feels welcome and valued. Each week, we directly engage with up to 300 children, young people, and adults aged 5 – 25 through our diverse range of programme. With consistently high attendance across our sessions, our work reflects the real demand for trusted, accessible youth and community provision that meets young people and the wider community where they are. Provide Targeted Support – We offer targeted support through a combination of in-house provision and partnerships with external specialist services, ensuring a smooth and coordinated link between Whitefield Youth Association and local support networks.

Our Journey: Built By Community, Led By Community, Delivered By Community Since 2002, Whitefield Youth Association has stood at the forefront of youth development in Burnley, Pendle, and the surrounding areas. What began as a grassroots initiative has grown into a respected and trusted local charity, known for delivering high impact, life changing youth work -and for never losing sight of the community it serves. For over two decades, we have created safe, inclusive, and welcoming spaces where young people aged 5 to 25 can thrive. Through a diverse programme of sport, mentoring, outreach, and personal development, we have empowered thousands to overcome barriers, grow in confidence, and shape brighter futures for themselves and those around them. At the heart of everything we do is a simple but powerful belief: every young person deserves the same chance to succeed – no matter their background or circumstance. Whitefield Youth Association does not belong to us – it belongs to the young people who walk through our doors, the staff and volunteers who dedicate themselves to guiding and supporting them, and the community that continues to stand with us year after year.
